Certification International Philippines rolled out its public presentations on ISO 37001 on April 13, 2018. This international standard on anti-bribery management system was hailed as a useful addition to organizations’ anti-bribery controls, as they seek to plot out their strategic goals while at the same time ensuring ethical practices among their own people and their organizations’ external stakeholders.
In a forum with the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows Association and the Asia Foundation, Renato Navarrete, Chairman and President of Certification International Philippines, Inc., cited ISO 37001 as a comprehensive anti-bribery management system that organizations, whether public or private, can integrate within their business processes in order to exercise the necessary disciplines and controls that can help prevent, detect and respond to bribery. An effective anti-bribery management system can benefit organizations in terms of regulatory compliance. It can likewise help them gain the confidence of major customers, especially foreign and international organizations, in stamping out bribery which often causes market distortions, unjust competition and in several cases real threats to human life, health and safety.
The Hubert Humphrey Association called for the promotion of ISO 37001 among critical sectors in the Philippines, including public agencies, so that it can be adopted to gain or strengthen public trust; being a self-improvement tool, an anti-bribery management system conforming to the requirements of ISO 37001 guides governance and reform initiatives of organizations towards producing sustainable and demonstrable high standards of ethical behavior and other business practices.
Public seminars on ISO 37001 are available at Certification International Philippines.
