ISO 21001:2025 - EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

About ISO 21001:2025

ISO 21001:2025 is the international standard that specifies the requirements for an Educational Organization Management System (EOMS). This is the revised edition of ISO 21001:2018. The standard is intended for educational organizations that utilize a curriculum to support the development of competence of learners and other beneficiaries through teaching, learning or research. These educational organizations, with their respective academic offerings, may be of different sizes and types: early childhood (nursery and kindergarten), elementary schools, colleges, universities, special needs education, distance learning, training institutes, and educational departments which may be part of larger organizations that do not have education as their core function.

The establishment of an EOMS as an underlying management framework is motivated by goals to further raise the quality of educational products and services in response to changing needs and expectations of learners and other stakeholders. The EOMS is sustained with a Plan-Do-Check-Act approach for continual improvement of its effectiveness. The EOMS further supports educational organizations’ mandate for social responsibility, accountability, equity and ethical conduct.

Educational organizations certified by CIP to ISO 21001 can demonstrate that their operations are carried out in a manner that fulfills educational product and service commitments to their learners, staff and other beneficiaries.

CIP provides guidance to organizations to transition their certified EOMS from ISO 21001:2018 to the new edition ISO 21001:2025. See CIP’s audit process.
