GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES (GMP)

About Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Good manufacturing practices (GMP), as applied in the food industry, specifies the methods, equipment, facilities and controls essential for food safety. Codex Alimentarius CXC 1-1969, rev. 2022 provides food manufacturers/processors complete requirements for designing, maintaining, controlling and evaluating the effectiveness of their processes and facilities for the preparation, manufacture, packaging and storage of food that is safe for its intended use.

Organizations with certified GMPs demonstrate to their stakeholders that they can consistently ensure food safety and compliance with food safety laws and regulations by utilizing a system that is regularly audited by an independent third party for its effectiveness.

CIP certifies GMPs of food manufacturers/processors to Codex Alimentarius CXC 1-1969, rev. 2022 that successfully complete CIP’s audit process of their GMP against the criteria of this FAO/WHO standard.
