ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard that specifies the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS). By implementing and continually improving their QMS, organizations, big or small, whether in manufacturing or service sector, private or government, have a framework to guide their processes to consistently achieve product and service conformity to customer requirements and, where applicable, statutory and regulatory requirements.

The QMS focuses the functions and operational controls of organizations on universally accepted quality management principles. Using Plan-Do-Check-Act as an approach of continual improvement, adherence to these principles raises the effectiveness of the QMS. Organizations certified to ISO 9001:2015 demonstrate to their stakeholders that their operations are managed with the necessary controls to deliver consistent product and service quality. This outcome helps nurture customer satisfaction.

CIP certifies organizations to ISO 9001:2015 that successfully complete CIP’s audit process of their QMS against the criteria of the standard.

In late 2026, ISO expects to release the 2026 edition of the standard. Organizations currently certified to the 2015 edition of the standard will be guided towards the transition of their QMS and eventual certification to ISO 9001:2026.
